A small studio, slow ceramics, honest hands.
The Nova Clay began as a quiet practice — a wheel in the corner of a room and a stubborn love for stoneware. Today every mug we release is still pulled, trimmed, glazed and painted in our small studio, by the same pair of hands.
We work in small batches because the work asks for it. Clay takes its own time. We listen. What you end up holding is a record of that pace: a soft thumbprint, a brush that wavered, a glaze that pooled the way only fire can decide.
Our process

Stoneware clay
We source a high-fire stoneware that ages and softens beautifully with use.
- 02
Wheel-thrown
Each mug is centered and pulled by hand. No molds. No two are exactly alike.
- 03
Bisque & glaze
Pieces rest, are trimmed, bisque-fired, then dipped in glazes.
- 04
Hand-painted
Finally, every mug is finished with original artwork — brushed on by hand.
- 05
Kiln-fired
A second firing at cone 6 vitrifies the clay and locks the painting in for life.
